These amazing young humans did a thing today. They competed in the state tournament for academic bowl in Dale. It was their first year participating and they were the last team to qualify. They knew it was gonna be tough, but if they could just get one win at state, they belonged there. And they did it!! They lost their first round but won their second and survived to compete a third time. They were beat in the third match by only 3 questions. They have done very well, and I'm super excited to see what they accomplish throughout the years.
All of this wouldn't have been possible without Mrs. Kincannon's help. When I woke up sick Friday night she didn't hesitate to step in and take over for me. She is a rock star. She even got to experience the Dave's Hot Chicken celebratory lunch I promised them if they qualified.
Lastly, a huge thank you to the faculty and parents that got together to provide goodie bags for the team. When kids have to hop on a suburban at 6:20 on a Saturday morning, Takis sure brighten their day!
