Lori Bayless and Shane Suthers talking to several students about their career in dentistry and proper teeth cleaning. 🦷

Another busy week at Arnett Public School, and we aren’t slowing down! April 1st was a busy day at Arnett Public Schools. 4th through 12th grade was able to visit with different people at  different booths set up in the classrooms of the high school. Each person explained their career and had demonstrations and goodies for the kids. This gave our students an opportunity to think about what they might want to do in the future. This was a great opportunity for our students to be a part of.

The Arnett 5th & 6th Grade Choir recently competed at the Seiling Music Festival and received a Superior rating for their songs, “Grow, Little Tree” and “The Ghost Ship”. They will compete again on May 4 at the Tri-State Music Festival in Enid

While Studying plants and animals external and internal structures in science, the 4th graders are raising their own butterflies. We brought in 34 caterpillars and have been observing them while they go through metamorphosis. The caterpillars have grown so much and are currently in their chrysalis.

Wednesday, The Ellis County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) along with the Ellis County Sheriff's Office, Ellis County Emergency Management, all Ellis County Fire Depts, EMS, Northwest Domestic Crisis Services Inc. and the Ellis County OSU Extension Office hosted the Life Awareness and Mock Scenario Day for the Junior and Senior Class students from Arnett, Fargo/Gage and Shattuck Schools. The students learned Self Defense Tactics, Situational Awareness, Drug Awareness and Sexual Assult Awareness, then they witnessed a mock accident involving a distracted driver hitting a propane tank. We thank the Ellis County Fair Association for allowing us to use their facilities for our Mock scenario.

We send a big THANK YOU to all that were involved in the planning, setting up, speaking/teaching, cooking, providing food and the clean up. Thank You to the schools, students and parents for allowing your teens to participate!!

Several agencies and individuals donated bottled water, chips, cookies, hamburger, all the fixings and supplies to be able to feed over 100 people!! SNB BANK NA, Oklahoma State Bank of Gage, Red Diamond Cattle Co., Ellis County OSU Extension Office, Catesby Fire Dept. and Arnett fire dept

To Stevens Propane for providing a propane tank, The Ellis County Commissioners and Dist. #2 and #3 for setting up and cleaning up the Mock Scenario accident.

Thursday, the students had the opportunity to celebrate hitting one of their reading goals for this school year. The 3rd grade students had the most points so they chose which teacher we were taping to the wall. Coach Templin was the lucky winner! Each student was given a piece of tape to place across Coach T.

Friday, the kids enjoyed a day off while the teachers met for professional development. They are working hard preparing for the state tests coming up after Easter. We know all of our students are going to do awesome!
