Wildcat Corner

It was another busy and exciting week at school, with students learning through hands-on activities, celebrating special events, and Wildcat athletes competing throughout the week.

In 6th grade science, students got to put their knowledge to the test by making edible cells! After learning about the different structures and functions of plant and animal cells, students created models they could eat. This was a fun and tasty way to review the parts of a cell and their important jobs.

The 5th grade science students have been learning about the properties of matter. To put their learning into action, students made stepping stones while exploring different properties of matter. The hands-on activity gave students an opportunity to apply what they have been learning in class.

The 4th grade science students are continuing their study of different types of energy and electrical circuits. This week, students put their knowledge to the test with a fun and unique hands-on experiment. They created a working circuit and used bananas to power a piano! Students explored how electrical energy can flow through a circuit and discovered that everyday objects can be used as part of a simple electrical system. It was a fun way to bring their science learning to life! On Thursday, September 17, 2026, the Arnett 4th grade joined 4th graders from Shattuck and Fargo at the City Park in Arnett to attend the Ellis County Outdoor Classroom.  This event is sponsored by Ellis County Conservation District.  They visited nine different stations throughout the day and enjoyed presentations by Northwest Electric, Department of Environmental Quality, and the OSU Extension Office just to name a few.  One of the favorite stops was the honey bee exhibit.  Students and sponsors were treated to pizza for lunch.  This was a very educational and fun day.  Thanks so much to all the volunteers who made this a great event for 4th graders!

On Friday morning, students in 4th through 6th grade gathered at the flagpole to kick off Constitution Week. Students were excited to welcome guest speaker Roberta Chance, who shared a lesson about the United States Constitution. Her presentation helped students learn more about the importance of the Constitution and the freedoms and rights it provides.
