Brantley Rumley and Scarlett Royal race to find the hidden eggs.

It was a joyful and bustling week at Arnett Public Schools, as students and staff embraced both the excitement of spring sports and the sweetness of Easter celebrations.

Baseball and softball seasons are officially in full swing, keeping athletes and fans busy with a packed schedule of games and tournaments throughout the week.

Meanwhile, the elementary halls were filled with laughter and colorful eggs as students celebrated Easter in a big way. Students in Pre-K through third grade each contributed 10 eggs, and a huge donation by a couple members of the staff, resulted in an impressive collection of over 1,200 eggs for the festivities. Thanks to the thoughtful help of the fifth and sixth graders, who took on the role of Easter Bunny, all the eggs were carefully hidden and ready for the big hunt.

Each grade level had its own special hunting spot. The Pre-K class searched for eggs in the center circle at the school, while kindergarten students explored the playground. First and second graders ventured down the street to an open field and the Hardon family’s yard. Third graders enjoyed their hunt at the Baptist church, and fourth graders headed to the city park. No matter the location, every class returned with plenty of eggs and big smiles.

After the hunts, students gathered back in their classrooms to enjoy snacks and drinks, wrapping up the celebrations with time spent together.

Adding to the excitement, students appreciated having both Good Friday and the following Monday off, giving everyone a well-deserved long weekend.

Looking ahead, the focus will shift toward preparation for upcoming state testing, as students gear up to do their best. Even with testing on the horizon, the remainder of the school year promises to stay lively, with fun field trips and full schedules keeping everyone engaged until the final day.
