It has been another exciting week at Arnett School!

The Beta Club had a very successful Valentine’s Day fundraiser. They sold many of their famous Valentine’s Day cookies and cute Beta Bears. Students were excited to buy sweet treats and gifts for their friends. The fundraiser will help the Beta Club with future activities and events. On Friday the 13th, elementary classes celebrated Valentine’s Day with fun classroom parties. Students enjoyed snacks, games, and time with their classmates.
BetaOn Monday, we celebrated President’s Day in a special way. The 2nd grade class had a surprise visitor. “Mr. Abe Lincoln,” played by 4th grader Kade Gaisford, visited their classroom. He dressed the part and shared facts about being a president. The students enjoyed learning about Abraham Lincoln and asked great questions.

Tuesday night, the high school basketball teams traveled to Erick for the first round of regionals. The Lady Wildcats took on the Sharon-Mutual Lady Trojans and won in a big way, 88-29. The Wildcats faced the Sweetwater Bulldogs in a close and exciting game. The boys fought hard and came out on top with a 51-48 victory. Both teams were proud of their strong start in regionals.

Saturday night, both the Lady Wildcats and Wildcats played Chattanooga in the Regional Championships in Erick. The Lady Wildcats fought hard but lost 53-47. The Wildcats battled and won a tough game defeating the #7 team Chattanooga, 64-43. This is only Chattanooga's second loss. Both teams will move on to the Area Tournament, which will be held in Clinton on February 26th–28th. The boys will be playing for the Area Championship! We are proud of both teams' hard work and determination.

The National FFA Organization chapter has also been super busy. Members traveled to Woodward for the District Livestock Show. Our students have done an excellent job with their livestock projects this year, and several of them made the sale. We are very proud of their hard work and dedication. A few of the FFA officers and our FFA instructor also had the special opportunity to visit the K101 studio and do a live broadcast. It was an exciting experience for everyone involved!

In science class, the 4th graders have been learning about the internal and external structures of plants and animals. They recently dissected flowers to see each part inside the plant. Students were able to identify and study the different structures up close. It was a hands-on activity that helped bring their learning to life.

The 5th graders have been exploring our solar system. They learned about the different phases of the moon and how the moon changes shape throughout the month. To make learning even more fun, students created their own moon phases using Oreo cookies. It was a tasty way to understand science!
