The students of Arnett have had another busy and exciting week filled with stock shows, school events, academic competitions, and classroom learning. Students have been hard at work both inside and outside the classroom, showing dedication and Wildcat pride.

On January 31st, the Beta Club put on a great Winter Ball for our students. Students enjoyed dancing, taking pictures, and sharing snacks with their friends. This event also served as a fundraiser to help raise money for the Beta Club’s upcoming convention.

This past week, the Ellis County Stock Show was hosted in Shattuck. Arnett students represented the school well and did an outstanding job with their projects. Their hard work and preparation were evident throughout the show.

Four AHS advanced science students attended the Anatomage Tournament at SWOSU on Thursday. An excellent performance in the preliminary round placed them fourth out of 34 teams heading into the head-to-head tournament. Unfortunately, confusion over the left/right orientation of the cadaver led to their elimination in the first round of the 16-seed tournament. While on campus, students also attended a CPR compression training session as well as an Athletic Injury and Electrophysiology session, gaining valuable hands-on learning experience.

The Arnett 5th and 6th grade Academic Team competed in the Regional OJABA Academic Meet on Saturday in Taloga. After receiving a first-round bye and suffering a second-round loss to Fargo/Gage, the Wildcats battled back through the losers bracket with wins over Balko, Fargo/Gage, Leedey, and Taloga. They came up just short against Vici in the finals, bringing home the second-place trophy and earning a ticket to the State Tournament in March at Dale.

The 7th grade geography class and Mr. Royal are currently studying economics and banking. They got the opportunity to visit our local bank, Farmer’s and Merchants Bank. Rusty and Lisa were so good with the kids and taught them about banking and different aspects of finance and the economy. We love our local bank and appreciate them!
