Wildcat News for week of February 2, 2026

Mrs. Wheeler’s fifth-grade class recently stepped back in time to better understand the events that led to the Boston Tea Party and the start of the American Revolution. After studying the growing tensions between the American colonies and Great Britain, students brought history to life by hosting their own classroom “tea party.”

During the activity, students took turns adopting the roles of Patriots and Loyalists. From each perspective, they discussed their thoughts and emotions about being taxed by the British government and the treatment of colonists. The conversations encouraged students to think critically, listen to differing opinions, and better understand how divided the colonies were during this time period.

The lesson ended with a tea party celebration. Students brought snacks to share, while Mrs. Wheeler provided the tea.

Remick

Remick Brown is this week’s Farmer’s and Merchant’s Bank “Banking on a Wildcat”.  “As the Superintendent’s Secretary, and the knower and doer of all things, Remick is the go to person for most everyone at ARnett Public Schools.  This means she’s interrupted roughly 5,000 times a day all while keeping our district running smoothly and efficiently.”  Among all the things she does she “is honest, dependable, and someone who fully carries out her responsibilities.”  Thank you, Remick, for all you do!

The Arnett Wildcats honored their senior athletes last Tuesday, January 27, prior to the high school games against Mooreland. Senior Night is always a special opportunity to recognize students for their dedication and accomplishments, and this year’s group was celebrated for their involvement in basketball, softball, baseball, rodeo, and cheerleading. The Wildcats wish all of these seniors the very best as they prepare for their future endeavors.

Following the ceremony, the Lady Wildcats fell to Mooreland, while the boys secured a hard-earned victory. Action continued the next day as both teams completed play in the Shattuck Shootout, which had been delayed due to weather. The Wildcats boys defeated Okeene to claim the consolation trophy, while the girls also faced Okeene but came up short, finishing fourth in the tournament.

With playoffs right around the corner, excitement is building. Make plans to come out and cheer on the Wildcats as they head into postseason play! 🐾🏀

100th Day of School!!!

The 100th day of school was celebrated on January 29, 2026, and students in the lower elementary classes had a blast marking the milestone. Students joined in the fun by dressing like “100-year-olds,” bringing collections of 100 items, or wearing special 100th Day of School T-shirts. The day was filled with smiles and excitement and is always a favorite for the youngest students.
