This week was full of exciting events for Arnett students. From singing on a big stage to launching a new business to battling hard on the basketball court, everyone stayed busy and showed off their talents.

This past week, the Arnett High School Beta Club amade a big impact in the community. Thirty Arnett Beta members helped the Arnett Chamber of Commerce put up Christmas lights and decorations around the town square, spreading holiday cheer for all to enjoy. A huge thank you goes to Bryan Miller, Rusty Royal, and Sharon Stevens for organizing the event. The town is now beautifully decorated and ready for Christmas on the Square, which will take place on Sunday, December 7, at 6:00 PM.

Two Arnett students, Eli Coykendall and Adante Smith, traveled to Elk City to perform with the WOCDA Honor Choirs. This was a special achievement because it was Eli’s fifth year and Adante’s second year being chosen for this honor. Their dedication to music and many hours of practice helped them shine on stage.

On Wednesday, Mrs. Dearing’s 6th grade math class kicked off an exciting new project—a student-run coffee business. Each group created a plan and gave a professional presentation to a panel of investors, hoping to earn support for their idea. The students received several offers, but in the end, they chose the one they felt would benefit them the most from the Arnett Farmer’s and Merchant’s Bank. Their new coffee shop is set to open after Thanksgiving break, and the students are eager to serve their first customers.

The junior high basketball teams stayed busy this week as they competed in the Ellis County Tournament, showing determination and growth with each game. On Monday, the JH boys came out strong and defeated Shattuck 36–22, using quick passes and solid defense. The JH girls played a tough game against Beaver and gave great effort, but fell short in the final minutes. On Thursday, the JH boys faced a skilled Vici team and, despite hustling until the end, lost the matchup. The JH girls also took on Vici and earned a hard-fought 25–23 victory, battling through a close game that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Both teams returned to the court on Saturday. The JH girls played with confidence and energy, winning the consolation championship against Buffalo. The JH boys played a challenging game against Mooreland, working hard on both ends of the court, but came up short with a 48–35 loss.

On Friday, the 3rd and 4th grade basketball teams, along with the high school teams, traveled to Reydon for another night of competition. Both younger teams played with enthusiasm and teamwork, bringing home impressive wins. The high school girls faced a tough Reydon team and fell 77–37, but continued to show strong effort throughout the game. The high school boys played an intense, back-and-forth matchup that stayed close until the final minutes. Despite their hard work and determination, they lost 48–40, but proved they are improving each week.

On Friday, the school held its High School Beta Club Induction Ceremony. Nine new members were welcomed into the club. Former Beta member Kenzie Hoskins returned as the keynote speaker, sharing encouraging words about leadership, responsibility, and serving others.
