A Strong Start to the School Year

The first full week of the 2025-2026 school year is in the books, and what a great week it was! From sports and tournaments to learning new routines, the halls and fields have been full of energy and excitement.

A special congratulations goes out to the McDonald family on the birth of their baby boy this week! We are thrilled to hear that mom, dad, and baby are all healthy and doing well.

In the classrooms, students are off to an impressive start. Pre-K may be a small group this year, but they are busy building fine motor skills and learning to recognize their names in print. In second grade, our reading wizards have been devouring books and racking up Accelerated Reader points, checking in and out of the library all week long. Fourth and fifth grade science students have been hard at work, too. Mrs. Ham continues to engage learners with hands-on experiments alongside textbook study. Fourth graders explored energy by testing how mass and height affect an object’s energy, while fifth graders investigated properties of matter—testing objects for magnetism, measuring weight on a balance, and noting color and texture.

High school also brought exciting news this week. Congratulations to Madison Haney, who was selected as a 2025-2026 NRS Show Team member! Madison, representing Arnett FFA and the state of Oklahoma, attended team orientation in Decatur, Texas. She was chosen as a first-year member out of more than 90 applicants from across the country. Selection was based on show frequency, competitiveness, professionalism, involvement outside of showing, and personality. As a team member, Madison will represent NRS and leading brands such as Cinch Jeans and Twisted X. She’ll also take part in marketing, educational opportunities with industry leaders, and scholarship programs. We are incredibly proud of Madison and excited to follow her journey this year!

As the week comes to a close, both students and staff are looking forward to a well-earned weekend rest. With such a strong start, we are ready to hit the ground running again next week!
