Making a Splash: Summer Fun with a Purpose at the Arnett Pool

When we think of summer fun, water is usually at the center of it—and in Arnett, the pool has become the go-to place for kids to meet up, cool off, and play. But while it may seem like just fun and games, a lot more is happening beneath the surface. Kids are staying active, learning new skills, and building friendships in a space that encourages both play and growth.

A highlight this past week was a group of elementary-aged girls working on their diving skills. Some approached the diving board with fearless enthusiasm, while others were more hesitant. Stepping in to help was lifeguard Allie Tune, who cheered them on from the sidelines and even got in the water to demonstrate proper technique. Her encouragement made all the difference.

The girls clearly enjoyed the attention and guidance from Allie, who has become a role model in their eyes. It’s a powerful reminder of how impactful our high school students can be when they step up to mentor and support younger students. This kind of positive influence doesn’t happen everywhere—but in Arnett, it’s a regular occurrence. Watching older students lead by example and lift up those who look up to them is one of the many things that make our community so special.

Meanwhile, “Dead Week” has officially come to a close, and Summer Pride is back in full swing. Students returned to the weight room Monday morning at 8 a.m., kicking off their training with energy and focus. Workouts will continue Monday through Thursday from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. through the end of summer break, helping student-athletes stay conditioned and ready for the upcoming school year.

Summer in Arnett continues to be filled with purpose, growth, and Wildcat pride—from the diving board to the weight room.
