Summer Begins in Arnett with Weather Surprises, Farewells, and New Routines

Summer kicked off in Arnett with plenty of excitement — from a string of graduation celebrations to a close call with a tornado that thankfully dissipated just one mile southwest of town on Sunday evening.

The first official week at school without students brought a quieter atmosphere, as summer work began behind the scenes. Staff quickly shifted into maintenance mode, tackling classroom deep cleaning, post-storm cleanup, and vehicle servicing.

This week also came with some heartfelt goodbyes, as Arnett said farewell to its foreign exchange students — Alberto, Lara, and Estrella. Their presence brought new perspectives and friendships to the school and community, and they will certainly be missed. Teachers, classmates, and community members are grateful for the time spent with them and look forward to seeing where life takes them in their home countries.

As things settle into the summer routine, Summer School and Summer Pride are set to begin. Summer School will run Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. through June 20th. Summer Pride, focused on strength and conditioning, will also run Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. In addition, Arnett students will participate in Classic Bowl XXXVII, an exciting event celebrating student-athletes and performers.

With more activities on the horizon, Arnett’s summer is off to a meaningful and active start.
