This past Wednesday, first through third graders enjoyed an exciting end-of-year field trip to the Don Harrington Discovery Center in Amarillo, Texas. Known for its engaging, hands-on exhibits, the science museum sparked curiosity and wonder among the young students. Located in the heart of Amarillo, the Discovery Center offers interactive experiences that cover everything from the mysteries of space and cutting-edge technology to Earth’s diverse ecosystems. The field trip was a fun and educational adventure that encouraged exploration and inspired a lifelong love of learning in its young visitors.
Arnett Senior baseball and softball night was held on April 21. Six seniors were recognized for their contributions to their teams. We are sad to see them go and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
District Playoffs:
The Arnett Varsity Wildcats baseball team opened their district tournament with a commanding 13-5 win over the Medford Eagles but faced tougher challenges as the day progressed.
On Wednesday, the Wildcats were shut out 8-0 by the Vici Indians in a game where Arnett struggled to generate offense. That loss set up a high-stakes rematch on Thursday, and this time, the Wildcats came out firing.
Arnett jumped to a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning behind a three-run homer from Eli Coykendall. Despite the strong start, Vici responded with a steady comeback, capitalizing on Wildcat errors to take control by the fourth inning. Though Kyson Messer added a late double and Arnett plated two more runs in the final inning, the team ultimately fell short, 12-7.
The Arnett Lady Wildcats dominated the Beaver Dusters Thursday with two commanding 15-0 wins, showcasing sharp defense and hot bats during the slow pitch district tournament. They will advance to the regional tournament to be held at Leedey.
Allie Tune led both offensively and defensively, turning a double play and racking up RBIs. Harley Shoaf was solid at shortstop and added key hits, while Cadie McCracken contributed all over the field with strong defense and smart baserunning. Landry Bayless and Brianna Burton chipped in with timely hits.
It was a complete team effort as Arnett controlled both games from start to finish.
Arnett High School is proud to announce that three standout athletes from the Wildcats Softball team have been recognized by Prep Nation, a respected organization that highlights top high school athletes across the state. Seniors Harley Shoaf and Cadie McCracken showed great determination this week as they competed in the regional golf tournament at The Coves Golf Club in Afton. Battling through wet and rainy conditions, the TFC/Arnett Girls Golf Team earned their spot in the State Tournament.
Despite the awful weather, Shoaf delivered a great performance, finishing second individually. McCracken also held strong in the elements, helping push the team to a qualifying finish.
The team will advance to the State Tournament, set for May 5th and 6th. Congratulations to Harley, Cadie, and the entire TFC/Arnett Girls Golf Team on this well-earned achievement!
This week's Farmer's and Merchant's Bank "Banking on a Wildcat" goes to Melisa McMurphy. Miss JoJo's fellow workers had this to say about her: "JoJo is the heartbeat of our elementary school. She loves our students as her own and she keeps us all in line! We love that we can call JoJo, and she takes care of us. Watching her help the kids whether they are in elementary school or high school is truly rewarding as she makes everyone feel special. Arnett is proud to have her and thanks her for all of her hard work." Congratulations, Melisa!
