The buildings of Arnett Schools have become much busier in the past two weeks as teachers, coaches, staff members, and contract workers have been spending mornings, afternoons, and late evenings working in their classrooms, having team practices, finishing up projects, and preparing for students to arrive on August 10. There is a certain excitement in the air as a new school year is about to begin.

One change has been made to the 2023-2024 school calendar since it was last published. Spring Break will be a week later than originally scheduled, moving to March 18-22, 2024, so that it aligns with colleges’ and other schools’ spring break making it more convenient for families.

Arnett Schools has added several new staff members to our team, and we will introduce you to all of them over the coming weeks. First, we have Kaleb McDonald. Kaleb was born and raised in Beaver, Oklahoma. Kaleb comes from a family of educators with his mom being a music teacher, and his older and younger brothers being educators/coaches as well. After graduating high school, Kaleb attended SWOSU where he graduated with a degree in Parks and Wildlife Law Enforcement. He then accepted a job with the Ellis County Sheriff's Department, which brought him to Arnett. He has been living in Arnett for the past six years and loves being involved with the community. The best part of moving to Northwestern Oklahoma was meeting his wife, Lynanne who is also a teacher, and putting down roots here together. Kaleb is excited to start this new chapter in life as an educator. He will be teaching Technology Education and serving as the school’s resource officer. He is looking forward to making new friends, building relationships, and getting the opportunity to work with students to build a better future.

Next up, is Kelsi Stevens. Kelsi is the new High School Secretary at Arnett Schools. Kelsi was born and raised in Elk City. She attended college at NWOSU where she played college golf and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Kelsi then served 6 years in the Oklahoma Air National Guard before moving to Arnett. Kelsi is married to Kyle Stevens, AHS alum and the voice of A-Town TV Basketball. They have been married for almost two years and their baby boy, Miles, was born in April. Kelsi is looking forward to getting to know all the wonderful students and staff at APS!

One final reminder that the Arnett Beta Club is doing a fundraiser through Cunningham Peaches in Palisade, CO.  Pre-orders for peaches, pears, and/or honey are due by August 16.
