Summer break has officially begun; however, the last days of school were filled to the brim with exciting projects so there are still many activities and accolades to highlight.

Troy Burton, Jasmine Smith, and John Campbell talked to the 5th & 6th grade class about their band instruments and about what it was like to learn an instrument and to be a part of the band. 6th graders will be choosing their own instruments in August. The group, along with Eli Coykendall, performed “Banana Boat Song” for the students. Mrs. Broyles would like to thank them for being willing to share their experiences of this past year.

Mrs. Dowler’s science class had three contenders for their annual boat races. The groups had to design and build a boat out of cardboard, styrofoam, and duct tape. The goal was to hold one junior high student who had to row halfway across the indoor swimming pool and back. This year’s champion was “Popeye’s Pirate Ship” made up of Dayson West, Breclyn Suthers, and Isaiah Gallardo.

3rd-12th graders were encouraged to participate in the end of the year Arnett School Talent Show. There were individual, group, and class performances that ranged from instrumental, vocal, skit, comedy, and karate routines. It was enjoyable for all to see the different talents throughout the student body.

Senior Commencement Ceremonies were held Friday, May 12, at 7 PM in the high school auditorium. Alyson Friesen, Emma Knowles, and Anna Hope Sant’Anna gave the Salutatorian addresses, and Jenna Thomas delivered the Valedictorian speech. We wish the 2023 AHS graduating class the best of luck.
