Wildcat News for week of April 13, 2023

Pre-K enrollment for the 2023-24 school year was held Wednesday, April 5.  There was a small turnout for enrollment.  We would like to remind parents that if you have a child that will turn 4 by September 1 and will be coming to school to please call the school as soon as possible to get them enrolled.

Elementary Principal, Shannon Shoaf was awarded the Outstanding Administrator Award by the Oklahoma Literacy Association. Mrs. Shoaf was nominated by Arnett's 5th grade teacher and President of the Northwest Reading Council, Melia Wheeler. Arnett Schools is privileged to have both educators within our school system.

Last week was National FFA Week.  Mr. Hamil and his FFA classes set up a petting zoo for the elementary students.  The FFA members read the students a book and then let them look at the animals and ask questions.  They also provided students with coloring sheets for a coloring contest.

Tuesday, April 4, was National Librarian Day and here at Arnett School we have a pretty fabulous librarian.  Tasha Hamil was given an awesome surprise as students and staff wrote thank you “books” which she proudly displayed in the library.  She is always willing to do whatever it takes to help teachers out - as evidenced by her dressing up as Miss Trunchbull from the book “Matilda”.

The latest Night at the Library was held Wednesday, April 5.  The theme was Touch-A-Truck and students were able to touch their favorite vehicle, sit behind the wheel, and talk to those that serve and protect our community.  FFA Students were there to assist.  There were fire trucks, tractors, and semi-trucks just to name a few.  A huge thanks to all the local people and businesses that made this happen.

Tiegan Dearing had a great time at “Touch a Truck” night at the library!

The elementary classes ended the week with their Easter parties last Thursday.  It was beautiful weather for the kids to get out and enjoy hunting eggs with their classmates.  They then had awesome snacks and games provided by parents.  Thanks so much for all the help with the parties throughout the year.
