Title IX - Non-Discrimination / Civil Rights

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive Federal financial assistance. Title IX states that: No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. 

NON-DISCRIMINATION

Arnett Public Schools is committed to providing all students, employees and members of the public with a safe and respectful school and workplace environment. The district prohibits discrimination, harassment, or retaliation based on real or perceived race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, pregnancy, disability, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, age or any other classification protected by applicable laws.  This prohibition applies to students, employees, vendors and board members in any aspect of the district’s programs, including during school hours, extracurricular activities, district sponsored events, or outside of school hours if the conduct affects the education or working environment.

In compliance with the requirements of Title IX, 34 C.F.R. § 106.45 (b)(10), Arnett Public Schools has provided required training to all Title IX personnel including the District’s Title IX Coordinator(s), Investigator(s), Decision-Maker(s), and Facilitator(s). Title IX requires schools to adopt and publish grievance procedures for individuals to file complaints of sex and gender-based discrimination, including complaints of sexual harassment and violence. Arnett Public Schools' Title IX Policy and Procedures.

  • To report any incident of sexual harassment, gender-based discrimination, or sexual violence, please complete this Harassment Incident Form and return it to the Title IX Coordinator, Shannon Shoaf, at Arnett Schools, 102 E Haskell Arnett, OK 73832.
